Members of the Saskatoon police traffic unit took to Twitter to urge people to slow down after reportedly dealing with a pair of serious speeding incidents Thursday.
SPS Traffic tweeted that officers pulled over a 22-year-old man shortly after 5 p.m. after he was clocked doing 117 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Claypool Drive.
The man was slapped with a $988 fine and his vehicle was impounded.
A few hours later, at around 8 p.m., police caught another driver doing 168 km/h on a stretch of Circle Drive where the posted speed limit was 90 km/h.
That driver’s heavy foot led to a $1125 and saw their vehicle impounded for a week.
“These speeds are pure insanity; we will keep targeting those who choose to put others at risk,” wrote one of the officers in a Twitter post.
