A police officer was sent to hospital with minor injuries after a dog bit him over the weekend.
Saskatoon police said the incident happened around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, when the officer was responding to a report of a break and enter in progress on Idylwyld Drive North.
The officer was approaching the home when a large dog lunged toward him from a shelter and bit his arm.
Police said the officer didn’t respond with any force “As the dog was at the end of his chain and (was) unable to cause further harm.”
The officer was taken to hospital, while animal control was asked to speak with the dog’s owners.
