There’s a new addition to the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo — and she needs a name.
Goeldi monkeys Diego and Leah welcomed a tiny daughter on May 27.
The infant weighed in at around 109 grams — less than a quarter of a pound.
In a news release Tuesday, zoo manager Tim Sinclair-Smith said both mom and baby are doing well.
Now, the zoo is holding a vote to pick a name for the littlest monkey from the following list:
Calli – short for Callimico, the species name
Maku – an indigenous South American language
Tupi – an indigenous South American language
Sofia – a common Brazilian girl’s name meaning wisdom.
Votes can be submitted online until July 31.
The winning selection will be publicly announced on Aug. 1.
The Goeldi and her parents are located in the monkey enclosure in the Kinsmen Children’s Zoo exhibit.
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
