The Humboldt Broncos bus crash was 89 days ago.
70 days from now the Broncos will step on to the ice for its 2018-19 home opener against the Nipawin Hawks.
Those lost, and those whose lives have been forever affected by the events of April 6th will never be forgotten.
Having said that, the city is doing its best to move forward. One way to do that will be to start the hockey season.
I was lucky enough to be in Humboldt on Tuesday when Broncos President Kevin Garinger introduced Nathan Oystrick as the teams’ new coach and GM.
Oystrick openly admitted he never knew Darcy Haugen, who perished in the crash. He said he wished he had. However, in this new person is a new beginning.
The crash will always be a devastating part of team history. The wounds won’t all go away. However, time and hockey can, to a point, help heal.
