Funnel cloud advisory for west central Sask.

Keep your eyes on the sky for severe weather Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada issued a special weather alert about the possibility of funnel clouds developing in west central Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, there are also reports of funnel clouds in the southeast.

The alert covers Saskatoon, Kindersley, Rosetown, Biggar, North Battleford, Lloydminster and Meadow Lake areas.

The weather office said conditions are favourable for funnel clouds to spawn from a weak ban of thunderstorms moving through the area, adding landspout tornadoes are possible.

Environment Canada said landspout tornadoes don’t usually cause significant damage but can still be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances.

There is also a line of thunderstorms forming in the southeast near the border with Manitoba, where at least one funnel cloud was also spotted near Moose Mountain Provincial Park.
