Environment Canada has ended its severe thunderstorm watch for the areas around Carlyle, Estevan and Moosomin Sunday afternoon.
Special funnel cloud weather statements which blanketed Melfort to Humboldt and east to the Manitoba border have also been lifted.
The same system made for a damp start to Canada Day festivities in Saskatoon.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Amanda Prysizney said more rain fell in the bridge city than originally expected.
“It’s looking like it’s (the system) a little bit more organized than anticipated,” she told 650 CKOM.
While it’s not clear how much rain could fall an updated forecast showed a possible 10 millimetres or about .4 inches of rain.
When it comes to the possibility of the storm clearing in time for the planned fireworks in Diefenbaker Park Sunday night, Prysizney said there are no guarantees.
“You’re either going to get a break and a clearing or if it is a thunderstorm or a heavier shower it will be fairly intense,” she said.
As of 1 p.m. Sunday the fireworks display at Saskatoon’s Optimist Canada Day celebrations were expected to happen.
