Traffic on Highway 9 through Yorkton came to a stop on Thursday night after a semi truck and the train collided.
On Twitter, Yorkton Firefighters said the crash happened on Highway 9 near Hamilton Road.
Emergency crews are currently on scene on highway 9 by Hamilton Road for a Tractor trailer VS Train MVC. Traffic is being rerouted and the public is asked to avoid the area as the rail line is blocked. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Traffic was being rerouted around the accident scene at the time of the tweet at 8:48 p.m.
Travis Hudy was on the east side of town doing some grocery shopping when he noticed the flashing emergency lights.
“The semi truck was coming from the south and going north,” he told 650 CKOM. “It looked like he was trying to race the train.”
According to Hudy, the rail crossing is busy with trains passing through several times a day.
“In that area, it’s very easy to see the train coming and the lights are there for a reason,” he said about the crossing.
Calls to the RCMP for information were not returned Thursday night.
