Shania Twain pays tribute to Broncos in Saskatoon

Country music superstar Shania Twain took time during her concert Saturday night in Saskatoon to talk about the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy and how she related to it.

“My heart is breaking for you and I just want you to know I share in your pain,” Twain told the audience at SaskTel Centre.

The crash between the hockey team’s bus and a transport truck on April 6 killed 16 people and left 13 others injured.

Twain sat on a set of stairs on stage and shared how losing her parents in a collision made the deadly Broncos crash personal for her.

“For those of you who aren’t directly involved it’s very difficult to understand the shock factor of having someone just stolen away from you,” she said.

Before continuing the show on her NOW tour she reached out to families and loved ones close to the victims of the crash.

“From somebody who understands, I know it matters so much to you to be with people who understand you and just listen to you.”

Following the tribute, Twain performed her new song “I’m Alright” and the crowd broke out into a “let’s go Broncos” chant.
