A tournament showcasing top international women’s hockey talent will be held in Saskatoon this November.
Hockey Canada is partnering with Saskatoon Sports Tourism and SaskTel Centre to bring the Four Nations Cup to Saskatoon.
The tournament is considered a warm-up for the IIHF Women’s World Championship in 2019. In addition to Team Canada, the tournament will feature Finland, Sweden and the United States.
“Saskatoon is proud and excited to be hosting the world’s top women’s hockey teams in the homeland of Olympic-medallist Emily Clark, which has stood strong on the shoulders of an entire community bursting with pride over her achievements,” Saskatoon Sports Tourism managing director Stephanie Clovechok said.
The tournament was previously known as the Three Nations Cup until Sweden was added in 2000.
Canada’s women have won 18 gold and four silver medals in the event.
The U.S. is the defending champion after beating Canada 5-1 in last year’s Four Nations final in Tampa, Florida.
