Mark Messier is her distant cousin, but this Sask. hockey product is carving her own path.
It was 21 days ago that the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy took place.
Like many of you, I still hurt. I didn’t know anyone on that bus, but I still ache for lives lost and for those whose lives have been altered forever, including the driver of the truck that was involved in the accident.
Tonight, many of Canada’s hockey greats and country music greats come together at SaskTel Centre to raise money — and just as importantly — help heal.
Music fans and hockey fans alike will laugh, drink, dance and enjoy themselves as they should. There may also be some tears and some time for quiet reflection on a tragedy that is still impossible to explain.
There should be no guilt for those that want to sing loud and cut loose.
In buying tickets you have proven that you have big hearts and are generous. For many of tonight’s concert goers, this won’t be their first donation to the cause.
Enjoy the show. You deserve it.
