Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a Shopper’s Drug Mart store Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the Shopper’s in the 400 block of Herold Court at about 8:40 a.m. Witnesses reported three men entered the store threatening a staff member with a gun.
“Just a lot of shouting and banging and ‘give me drugs,” said Elaine Panchuk, adding she was told by staff to get on the ground.
“I’m shaky,” said Tammy Baier. She was on her way into the store when a customer said it was being robbed and to call 911.
She watched one person run out and jump into a Saturn belonging to another customer inside.
“I thought it was over then I saw two more guys come out. They had masks on. They demanded my keys.”
“I seen a gun so I threw my keys thinking they wouldn’t know which vehicle was mine, but they grabbed them and jumped into my Escalade and took off,” she said.
Police said the men fled in two different vehicles — a white Cadillac Escalade and a gold or brown Saturn Ion. They escaped with an unknown amount of cash and prescription drugs.
The vehicles were recovered by police a short distance away around 10:00 a.m.
The suspects are described as all being about five-feet 10-inches tall and 170 pounds.
The first suspect is thought to be Caucasian wearing a black balaclava, a grey and black sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and dark shoes. The second suspect was wearing black ski pants, black mitts, and a navy balaclava. He was carrying a black and orange bag. The third suspect was wearing black track pants with white stripes, a black long sleeve shirt, tan shoes, a tan hat, a black balaclava and white sunglasses.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
