Television numbers will be off the charts if Tiger Woods is in the mix on Sunday in his pursuit of another green jacket.
We’ve been here before. This time though, it’s different.
ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg summed it up best when describing Tiger’s pursuit of major championships in 2018. He wrote Tiger will “wrestle with time”. Well put.
Tiger Woods is 42 years old. This is also a man that has his spine rebuilt.
The desire to the greatest drives Woods. He has been a Masters champion four times, Jack Nicklaus won six.
Woods is also chasing the “Golden Bear’s” record of major tournament wins. He is four behind Nicklaus.
It’s not a stretch to think that Tiger would like to hold those records.
There aren’t many dominant 40-year-old athletes in any sport, but if anyone can take aim at Nicklaus, it’s Tiger.
That’s what makes the 2018 Masters the same in some ways and different in others.
