Many were impressed with Johnny Manziel’s performance at Texas A&M yesterday. I wasn’t there, so I don’t know.
I was impressed with how he carried himself after the work out. Some weren’t impressed with the comment that if he doesn’t land an NFL job, he’ll come to the CFL and “everything will be fine.”
His words gave some the impression that he believes he is guaranteed a CFL spot if an NFL opportunity doesn’t come his way. I doubt he believes that, but if he does, his agent Erik Burkhardt and Hamilton Tiger-Cats coach June Jones are partly responsible.
Burkhardt has publicly said Manziel deserves starters’ money, while Jones suggested that Manziel could be the best quarterback in CFL history. I’m not sure if Manziel has a great grasp on the history of the CFL, but Burkhardt and June Jones have have suggested that Manziel will be a difference maker if he plays in Canada.
Manziel can only draw conclusions from what is being said by his agent and the head coach of the team that holds his rights.
