A percentage of residents in or near Saskatchewan’s largest city need an attitude adjustment when it comes to attending events at the 15,000-seat SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
On Saturday night, a sellout crowd is expected for the 7:30 p.m. National Lacrosse League game between the Saskatchewan Rush and the Rochester Knighthawks. It’s taken a while, but the majority of Rush fans have figured out there is a great benefit to getting in to SaskTel Centre when doors open between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday night, and again on Friday morning, there was an onslaught of complaints from some that attended a Michelle Obama event about traffic.
The event was attended by 9,000. Fewer than 1,700 were in the building from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., meaning approximately 7,300 people tried to get in less than 45 minutes before the event started.
There should be no complaints from those who were late.
If some of you still need to vent, contact your provincial and civic politician and tell them Saskatchewan’s largest city should have a downtown arena. At least then your misguided anger may do some good.
