A break-in appears to have been extra bad luck for a Saskatoon marijuana dispensary.
Officers were called around 10 a.m. Tuesday to the Canna-World Medical Cannabis Clinic and Dispensary at 611 3rd Avenue North.
They arrived to find the building’s alarm going off amid apparent signs someone had forced their way inside, according to a media release sent out Thursday.
Once in the store, officers reportedly saw marijuana on the premises. That led them to contact officials with Health Canada, who informed police the business was not licensed to possess or sell cannabis.
Police then returned to Canna-World later Tuesday afternoon with a search warrant. Officers reportedly seized three pounds of marijuana, $400 in cash and 300 of what were described as “cannabis-based derivatives.”
No charges had been laid as of Thursday afternoon. Police reported they were still working to identify everyone involved in owning and operating the dispensary.
Police added a warning to the public that the sale of cannabis or cannabis-based products through a store-front remains illegal in Canada.
