Mobs of meerkats, that is.
Two groups of the roughly squirrel-sized animals will be moving into the space formerly occupied by a pair of komodo dragons.
People will be able to see the latest additions starting April 1.
Meercats are a small breed of mongoose native to southern Africa. They’re famous for their ability to stand on their back legs.
In a release, zoo staff described the animals as active and sociable creatures known to live in groups called mobs.
An average mob is typically made up of up to three families, or 10 to 15 animals total.
Kids and kids-at-heart will also get a chance to see the animals up close. Zoo manager Tim Sinclair-Smith said two of the meerkats headed to Saskatoon have been specially trained for interactive presentations.
The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the end of April and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting in May.
