The skies were grey and drizzle was falling, but hundreds of people still showed up to get a sneak peak at the new Mosaic Stadium on Saturday.
The City of Regina had stations set up on Elphistone Street with facts, figures, and conceptual drawings of the stadium, along with people to answer questions. But the big draw was the concourse area that allowed people to see inside the unfinished stadium.
The line to get onto the course was very long, but people waited, and were happy to be able to see the new construction.
“Looks great, I’m really looking forward to seeing a game here,” said Jerry right after stepping away from the viewing area.
“It’s really big, it’s pretty massive. It’s impressive, it’s nice to see,” said Rob. “Twenty-seventeen can’t come soon enough.”
Some people were coming to the viewing straight from the Fan Day at the old Mosaic Stadium.
“The old one has character, but this one’s going to be a lot better,” said Rob about the new stadium.
“It’s more modern, it’s got more style to it than the old one,” said one boy.
There was only one negative comment heard by News Talk Radio’s reporter while there: “except they should put a roof on it.
The stadium is currently more than half finished, and is expected to be done in time for the 2017 football season.
