The way the Canadian Football League operates is under fire from many places.
After CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie granted Johnny Manziel permission to play in the league, Manziel’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, said the CFL’s negotiation list practice was “archaic.”
Now, via twitter, Kevin Glenn and Duron Carter are among those who have come to the defence of Argos running back James Wilder Jr.
Last year’s rookie of the year doesn’t want to risk injury in 2018 so he can pursue NFL opportunities in the future. So he has said he will not play this season.
He openly disclosed that $56,000 a season will not support his family. The CFL no longer leaves players an opportunity to try out for NFL teams, then re-sign with a CFL team.
And the Argos have to work within the cap.
Ambrosie now has to do his part to strike a balance between a sound financial league, and having players make a decent living.
