A joint investigation between Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit and the Niagara Region ICE unit has led to the arrest of 23-year-old Kyle Jones, who is charged with several offences including possession of child pornography
The investigation started in February of 2015 was looking into the online extortion of a Saskatchewan girl under 16-years-old.
On Friday the Niagara Police ICE unit, and members of the Technological Crimes Unit, executed search warrants in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, and Fort Erie, Ontario.
From the warrants Jones was arrested. Some of his charges include:
Possession of child pornography, extortion without reasonable justification or excuse and with intent to obtain child pornographic images on the Internet , distribute child pornography, access child pornography, lure a child, to wit; by means of a computer system, communicate with a person who is under the age of 18 for the purpose of facilitating an offence, make child pornography.
Jones will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
