Mild weather brings risk of freezing rain to Sask.

After dealing with extreme cold wind chills for the past week, people in Saskatchewan might cue the ‘hallelujah’ chorus when they step outside into warm temperatures Wednesday.

However, with the warmer weather comes the potential for freezing rain in parts of central Saskatchewan. Environment Canada issued warnings Wednesday morning for west-central areas including Lloydminster, North Battleford and Meadow Lake.

Environment Canada meteorologist Mike Russo said the system is moving east and will hit Saskatoon late Wednesday morning.

“It’s just a question of whether it comes down as freezing rain, rain or flurries. Right now its kind of a tight area.”

Russo added with mild temperatures expected today across the province  the risk of freezing rain will diminish as the day goes on.
