Six men allegedly involved in a disturbance at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre have been charged.
The incident happened late Tuesday night. While authorities haven’t provided much in the way of details, it is known that the situation began in a dorm unit that houses 30 prisoners.
Prison officials had to call in Saskatoon police to assist them and pepper spray was used to bring the situation under control. No inmates or staff were injured.
Fifteen inmates were moved to other correctional centres in Regina and Prince Albert after the incident.
The six people facing charges are accused of causing extensive damage in a bid to break out of the facility.
They are charged with mischief over $5,000 and escaping custody.
