Another local Regina business has turned to Facebook in hopes of finding a thief.
Darcey Shaw is one of the owners of Alsport Sales Ltd. His phone rang shortly after midnight Monday morning with a call from his alarm company saying someone had broken into the store’s compound.
“Somebody had back through, or drove through one of our fences and unfortunately wrecked five motorcycles in the process, and then stole one as well.”
Shaw immediately checked the footage from his security camera and saw exactly what happened.

Shaw and the other owner of the business filed a report with police. However, the police had no leads as to who was behind the theft. So the owners decided to post their surveillance footage to Facebook.
“If we put it our Facebook page, hopefully somebody knows one of them, or both of them, or knows of them and possibly could help the police out that way.”
The videos have been viewed thousands of times, and Shaw says the business has gotten a number of calls from people who think they know the men in the video. Shaw says they’re passing that information on to the police.

Shaw estimates that between the damage and the stolen bike, his businessness is out more than $15,000.
Theft hasn’t been a problem at the shop until the last six months or so, Shaw said. They upgraded their security cameras a year and a half ago, but Shaw says there isn’t much more they can do to protect themselves from crime.
“It’s too bad that you have to have alarms and lock sensors and compounds and it still doesn’t help. If they want in, they’re going to get in.”
