There’s more relief coming for those who rent from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation up north in communities under an evacuation order.
Premier Brad Wall alluded to it earlier this week. Now SaskHousing is making it official. Renters in evacuated zones will get a credit for the month of July towards August rent. If evacuation orders remain in place into August then the same credit will be applied to September rents.
On Monday, Wall announced a number of measures that would waive or delay payments of certain SaskTel, SaskPower, SaskEnergy and SGI bills until Sept. 1 for customers and businesses in affected zones. They’ll also get a credit equivalent to one month of service. Access Communications has also announced it won’t be billing its customers in evacuated areas while the evacuation order is on.
As well, small and medium sized businesses won’t have to worry about penalties for filing their PST returns late.
