Wray Morrison: Interest up in Grey Cup

Indifference to interest. That’s the best way to describe Saskatchewan’s take on the 105th Grey Cup.

I’ve talked to a number of people who said they weren’t going to watch the Argos and Stampeders on Sunday. However, snow at kick off added to the intrigue.

An impressive halftime show by Canada’s own Shania Twain kept many on the hook. Suddenly the snow and the indifference disappeared.

As the game unfolded, the story lines became clear. Marc Trestman, who was a late hire by the Argos, had his team in a position to win.

Thirty-eight-year-old Ricky Ray showed no signs of age. Corey Chamblin, who has a deep affiliation with Saskatchewan, had his defence step up when it was needed most.

We may not have had a dog in the fight, but that didn’t stop Saskatchewan from watching the best football game on either side of the border Sunday.
