A 52-year-old Regina man is facing fraud and forgery charges after allegedly defrauding a homeowner using a forged document.
It started back in Feburary when a 33-year-old Regina man contacted a contractor through an online classified ad service. The contractor agreed to replace windows in the victim’s home. The victim paid a sum of money and then made two more payments — one of these after being shown a document that appeared to be an invoice from a supplier.
But police say the contractor never showed up, and ignored phone calls from the victim. The document turned out to be fake.
Rodney Peter Gross was arrested on Thursday, and is charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000, forgery and using forged documents.
Gross was released and will make his first court appearance on August 19.
