Football fans in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Saskatchewan are fired up for this weekend’s CFL playoff games.
These centres are Canadian football hot beds.
While I am looking forward to the divisional semi-final match ups, I am also looking forward to Randy Ambrosie’s first full off-season as CFL commissioner.
He’s done a terrific job, considering he took over as commissioner after the regular season started.
Having said that, he – along with team owners – needs to make sure that team brand awareness takes hold in all nine CFL centres.
It’s mind-boggling to see Canada’s most metropolitan cities are least interested in the CFL.
Two-time starting Grey Cup champion Henry Burris made some interesting points about the CFL on Game Day With Wray over the weekend.
He said the only time you see the Lions, Alouettes, or Argos “brand” is on game day in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.
Brand awareness has to be on the commissioner’s To Do list for 2018.
