The Saskatoon Blades have made another minor trade on their Alberta road trip.
The team announced Thursday that forward Lukus MacKenzie was sent to the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2018 draft.
MacKenzie scored eight goals and tallied 32 points over 121 games with the Blades.
The move comes just days after Saskatoon sent defenseman Jantzen Leslie to the Edmonton Oil Kings for a conditional draft pick.
To make up for the loss of MacKenzie, the Blades signed Alec Zawatsky from the SJHL’s Notre Dame Hounds.
The 17-year-old has nine goals and 19 points in just 13 games.
“Alec is a late bloomer who really caught our eye at the SJHL showcase in September,” Blades general manager Colin Priestner in a team media release.
Zawatsky will make his Blades debut on Friday night when Saskatoon visits the Medicine Hat Tigers.
