A report of threats made against an elementary school in Meadow Lake prompted security measures at all schools in the city Thursday.
Meadow Lake RCMP said officers responded at 10 a.m. to a complaint of a boy allegedly brandishing a knife and uttering threats against Gateway Elementary School.
Officers attended the scene immediately. For precautionary reasons, all Meadow Lake schools initiated hold and secure procedures.
The boy was found and arrested without incident at around 11:30 a.m.
On Friday, RCMP charged a 14-year-old boy from Meadow Lake with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and uttering threats against a person.
The teen cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
No staff or students were physically hurt during the incident.
RCMP told media they will not provide any other details at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
The boy will appear again in court in Meadow Lake on Nov. 6.
Meadow Lake is located around 160 kilometres north of North Battleford.
