A few pockets of the province remained without power Thursday following winds and wildfires earlier this week.
Speaking on The Brent Loucks Show, SaskPower spokesperson Jonathan Tremblay said around 400 to 500 customers still didn’t have electricity. That number went up to 600 when the company provided an update in a conference call at 11 a.m.
Temblay said most of those customers were in hard-to-reach areas in the province.
At its peak, Tremblay said the combination of wind and wildfires knocked out power to as many as 35,000 customers.
He said the sheer size of the affected area created challenges for crews.
“It’s from Maple Creek, up to Yorkton, up to P.A. — it’s everywhere,” he said.
Tremblay said SaskPower expects to have service restored to all customers by the end of Thursday.
