Sandy Bay RCMP have charged a boy with second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Phillip Merasty.
RCMP said Merasty was found unresponsive at an undisclosed location in Sandy Bay around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Merasty received medical attention at the Sandy Bay Health Centre, but later died from his injuries.
On Tuesday, RCMP arrested and charged a male youth with second-degree murder in connection with Merasty’s death.
The accused cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Pelican Narrows Provincial Court via closed-circuit video Thursday afternoon.
This investigation is ongoing with assistance from the major crimes unit south and the RCMP identification section.
Sandy Bay is located on the banks of the Churchill River in Northern Saskatchewan.
