650 CKOM ADOPT-A-FAMILY
GENEROSITY ENSURES HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES
WILL GET A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS
This year’s 650 CKOM’s Adopt-A-Family campaign brought in more than $93,700 in cash, food and gifts. As a result, hundreds of families will experience a special Christmas.
The Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon (KCOS) has been involved with the Adopt-A-Family program every year. This year they provided support for 50 families and donated an additional $1,500 so The Salvation Army can purchase resources to help more families.
“KCOS is all about serving the communities greatest needs, and what greater need is there then helping families out during the holiday season,” said Travis Inglis with the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon. “When you think about spending resources in terms of financial donations and providing volunteerism time, our club will always be looking to partner with Salvation Army for these types of initiatives, as it helps so many families.”
The community’s donations help local families experiencing tough times put gifts under their tree and a festive meal on their table. With the help of The Salvation Army, generous donors, like Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon, lend a helping hand to less fortunate families by shopping for wish gifts and food and sharing in the magic and spirit of Christmas.
The public’s response was incredible and shows the generosity and spirit of giving from the Saskatoon community.
Hundreds of people gave their heart to the cause and got involved. Thank you to our listeners, the sponsor families, corporate partners, community fundraisers, and everyone in Saskatchewan who donated generously.
All donations were distributed to families in Saskatoon through The Salvation Army on December 11 and 12.
650 CKOM’s Adopt-A-Family program started in 1988. For 34 years 650 CKOM’s Adopt-A-Family campaign has been encouraging businesses, families and individuals to ‘adopt a family’ by raising money to purchase food and gifts for less fortunate Saskatoon families through The Salvation Army. In 1988, the program collected $5,000. Since then, the demand for assistance at Christmas time has grown immensely and so has the program.
