The winter months are fading into the rear-view mirror, and golfers in Saskatoon can tee off at city-owned courses starting on Friday.
The City of Saskatoon said the Holiday Park, Silverwood and Wildwood golf courses are all set to open at 8 a.m. on Friday. Tee times can be booked by phone, online or in person starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Tee times will move to a 6 a.m. start on Saturday, and the driving ranges at Holiday Park and Silverwood are currently open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, so golfers can shake off some of the rust before playing their first games of the year.
“Mother Nature has finally turned the spring page, and golf courses are starting to come along,” Brad Babyak, recreation services manager with the City of Saskatoon, told 650 CKOM earlier this week.
“Staff have started prepping the golf course and the process of getting the greens ready to open to the public.”
Babyak said staff are busy removing the ice shields and flax straw that was put down to protect the greens over the winter.
“Enjoy the early spring, take advantage of our driving ranges at Holiday Park and Silverwood, and we’re looking forward to the golf courses opening up for the year,” he said.
Despite the snow that has been hitting the southeastern corner of Saskatchewan this week, Saskatoon is seeing some very warm temperatures in the forecast for the days ahead. According to Environment Canada, Friday is expected to be 17 C and sunny, giving golfers a great first day of fun.
