According to the city, road maintenance teams are applying cold asphalt as a temporary fix to potholes in high-priority areas “until hot mix becomes available later this month.” The city asked residents to report any potholes or sunken pavement that could pose a danger to drivers through its online pothole map.
In addition, city crews are beginning the first phase of the spring street sweep, and will be working throughout April to clear as much material as possible from routes “with heavy traffic and significant buildup of dirt and debris.” Street sweepers will clear gutters and medians, and will navigate around parked cars until the city-wide sweep begins early next month.
“At that time, temporary “No Parking” signs will be placed to allow crews full access to the curb,” the City of Saskatoon said in a statement. “Residents are encouraged to move their vehicles as signed to ensure a complete and efficient cleanup of every neighbourhood.”
The city thanked residents for their help as crews work to clean and repair Saskatoon’s streets.
“We thank all residents for their cooperation in helping keep Saskatoon’s roadways clean, safe and ready for the season ahead,” the city said.
