“Police believe the driver and passenger had switched seats prior to being pulled over. When the male passenger, who was believed to be the initial driver, was asked to exit the vehicle, he became agitated,” the Saskatoon Police Service explained in a statement issued on Monday.
“An officer attempted to remove the man from the vehicle but the suspect drove away, dragging the officer for a short distance before coming to a stop.”
The man was quickly arrested after the SUV stopped, and police said he was believed to be “under the influence of an intoxicant.”
The 23-year-old is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer, obstruction, and driving while prohibited.
Police did not say if the officer was injured. 650 CKOM has reached out to the Saskatoon Police Service for more information.
