A Facebook post from Grasswood Auctions shows a “Pillar to Post” auction was scheduled for February.
According to its website, the brew pub was known as “The Original home of 9-Cent Wings,” on Wednesdays, which also featured karaoke nights.
The pub served a range of dishes from classic deep fried pub food to pizzas and featured a selection of house brewed beers. It also provided delivery service for beer, wine and spirits.
650 CKOM has reached out to the 33rd Street Business Improvement District for comment.
The area is expecting more changes, with Saskatchewan Polytechnic expected to move its headquarters from Idylwyld Drive to a new space at Innovation Place on the University of Saskatchewan campus.
The provincial government provided $6 million in the 2023-24 budget for the campus planning and design. Since 2018-19, the province has invested $11.4 million for work related to the project.
The Manchester Brew Pub is one of several longstanding buildings in Saskatoon to be torn down in recent months. In January 2024, the University of Saskatchewan demolished two silos and the original dairy barn at the corner of College Drive and Preston Avenue.
According to the University of Saskatchewan the barn and silos were originally built in 1972 for the university’s dairy herd but the infrastructure had not been used since 2013.
In Jan of 2024, the University also submitted a request for proposal for demolition of two buildings on its Saskatoon campus that included the former Lutheran Theological Seminary.
