After an attempted traffic stop on Sunday morning, two 19-year-olds ended up arrested after one of them fled on foot.
Just before 2 a.m. at 27th Street West and Avenue L North, police noticed a vehicle, which fled at a high rate of speed when they tried to stop it.
At Confederation Drive and 33rd Street West, the two men exited the parked vehicle, police arrested the passenger without incident.
The driver fled on foot and attempted to hide between houses in the 3200 block of 33rd Street West, where he was located by a canine unit.
Dog bite injuries were treated by a paramedic in Dentention.
Both 19-year-olds had outstanding warrants, in addition to an unmatched licence plate and a small amount of cocaine inside.
In the news release, officers wrote, “Police located a discarded bag believed to belong to the suspect during the foot pursuit. Inside, officers located cocaine, cash and bear spray.”
The driver is charged with:
- Possession of Cocaine,
- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon,
- Carry a Concealed Weapon,
- Dangerous Driving,
- Evade Police
- and Breach of Probation.
