By adapting the framework for Canada, CMC said it is empowering Canadian meat processors to work together on shared sustainability goals and improve North American-wide practices.
CMC president and CEO Chris White said Canada’s red meat processing sector has sophisticated, science-based practices.
“This initiative will provide a vehicle to broadly communicate these initiatives and demonstrate our leadership to key stakeholders,” he said.
Meat Institute president and CEO Julie Anna Potts said uniting the industry under a common framework will ensure that Canada’s meat processors can continuously improve their operations to achieve the highest standards of sustainability and transparency.
