Criminal incidents on Saskatoon Transit buses have become more common recently, prompting concerns from the public and leading the city to add more community support workers to some of the most problematic routes.
Last Thursday, police were called to Third Avenue North after a 32-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 50-year-old woman on a city bus. In that case, police said the man attempted to board a locked bus, and the woman was pushed to the ground when she tried to intervene.
“The altercation continued on board the bus when the male began being verbally aggressive with patrons. He then fled the scene as police were arriving,” the police service said.
The man was arrested after a short foot chase, and is now facing an assault charge.
