Mounties in Saskatchewan are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was found dead inside a vehicle on the Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.
According to the RCMP, the remains of the 19-year-old man were discovered early on Saturday afternoon. While the victim has been identified as a man from the Red Pheasant Cree Nation, and his family has been notified, he was not named by police in a statement released Monday.

“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two groups of individuals, both travelling in vehicles,” the RCMP statement read.
“A firearm was discharged during this altercation. The 19-year-old was injured by gunfire and later died of his injuries.”
Police said a 46-year-old man from Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation was arrested on Sunday. He’s been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and the Mounties said he was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.
The shooting remains under investigation, the RCMP noted, and anyone with information on the case was asked to contact police or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation is located roughly 30 kilometres south of Battleford.
