The deadlines to remove ice shelters from waterways in Saskatchewan are quickly approaching.
Shelters on the ice anywhere south of Highway 16 must be removed by March 15, while shelters north of that route must be removed by the end of March.

“Spring weather can be unpredictable, and deteriorating ice conditions can make it dangerous to retrieve shelters later in the season,” the provincial government noted in a statement.
“It is the responsibility of all anglers to ensure they remove their structures and any associated debris before these deadlines.”
Anyone who fails to remove a shelter could be hit with hefty fines, the government noted, along with the confiscation of the shelters and their contents.
Anglers were encouraged to property dispose of waste and debris when removing their shelters, and to use caution when travelling on the ice with warmer weather hitting much of the province.
“This year’s ice fishing season closes on March 31 in southern and central Saskatchewan and on April 15 in northern Saskatchewan,” the provincial government added.
