Nancy Martin and Team Saskatchewan have been eliminated from playoff contention at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay.
Despite the team’s 5-3 record heading into the final day of pool play at the tournament, Martin’s rink wasn’t unable to advance because Saskatchewan didn’t have the tiebreaker advantage over the team ahead.

Rachel Homan and Team Canada have a record of 7-0 heading into Thursday’s competition. Kayla Skrlik and her Alberta rink are 5-2, and so is Corryn Brown and British Columbia. Those three teams have clinched the top three spots in Pool A and hold the tiebreaker over Martin because they all beat her rink in pool play.
Saskatchewan is the only team in the tournament to have already played all eight of its games – the final seeding for the playoff round at the Scotties will be decided on Thursday.
This tournament was the first time Martin was able to skip her own rink at the Scotties.
When 650 CKOM spoke to Martin before the tournament, she called the opportunity to skip for Team Saskatchewan at the Scotties a “dream come true.”
“To win that provincial final has just been unreal – just a moment I sort of dreamed for a long time,” she said.
Martin’s team includes lead Deanna Doig, second Kadriana Lott, third Chaelynn Stewart and Colleen Ackerman serving as the alternate.
Sherry Anderson served as the team’s coach.
Martin’s elimination means Saskatchewan’s Scotties championship drought has reached 14 years. The province hasn’t won the national title since 2011.
