Police in Saskatoon arrested a man who was allegedly carrying a homemade taser, bear spray and methamphetamine on Tuesday.
According to police, officers were called to a motel on 22nd Street West after getting calls about a man with a “homemade conducted energy weapon” in the building’s lobby.

Police arrested the man, seizing both the energy weapon and the bear spray. When he was searched in police detention, he was also found to be carrying methamphetamine, police said.
The 41-year-old man is now charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited possession of a weapon and possession of methamphetamine.
A police spokesperson told 650 CKOM homemade weapons are not commonly seen by police, with “maybe only a handful of incidents” occurring each year.
