“Investigation determined the firearm was discharged from a vehicle with three individuals inside; no injuries were reported to police,” the RCMP said in a statement.
The RCMP said officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a business on 99th Street, but the driver took off, triggering a police chase.
“Officers initiated a pursuit and attempted to use a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle, however it fled southbound through Battleford to the Red Pheasant First Nation,” the RCMP explained.
Police caught up with the vehicle again quickly, finding it stuck in a ditch on the First Nation. The RCMP said the vehicle had been stolen earlier that same evening, and a gun and magazine were found a short distance away.
One man was arrested at the scene, and the RCMP said a report led them to a home on the Red Pheasant First Nation where two more men were arrested.
All three men – ages 18, 21 and 23 – are facing charges including flight from a peace officer, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The trio made their first court appearances on Tuesday, police said.
