A Saskatoon Police sergeant and another officer are the latest police in the city to receive suspensions.
According to a brief statement, “The Saskatoon Police Service can confirm that a Sergeant was served a notice of suspension on February 7, 2025, following a preliminary investigation by the SPS Professional Standards Division.”
“Certain aspects” of the incident are also being investigated by the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT), however, police aren’t saying what those aspects are.

According to SIRT’s website, “Investigations will occur when a person suffers serious injury or death, either in police custody or as a result of a police officer’s actions, or in relation to an allegation of sexual assault or interpersonal violence.”
That includes the actions of officers who are both on and off-duty.
Police have not provided any names or reasons for the suspensions. It’s not clear at this time whether the latest two officers are still being paid.
“As the matter is actively being investigated, and is non-public-facing, we are not able to provide any further details at this time,” the statement continued.
In a separate incident sometime in January, another officer was also suspended as part of an unrelated investigation. The Regina Police Service is looking into that matter.
Altogether, there are now three SIRT investigations underway related to Saskatoon Police officer conduct in the last six months and a fourth where RPS is involved.
The other two involve six SPS officers, including five police connected to one incident.
