A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon in Edmonton, in connection with the murder of Leslie Victor John Whitebear in 2022.
The Regina Police Service said in March 2022 that Whitebear was found hurt outside a home on Davidson Cres. in the Whitmore Park area. He was taken to the hospital but he was “critically injured” and ended up dying.
Police deemed his death a “homicide” a few days later — it was the third of 2022 in Regina.

In May, police put out a photo, asking the public for help in identifying a person in a photo that police wanted to question about Whitebear’s death — an update was later given that the person in the photo might have been in Edmonton, but no update was given as to the person’s name.
Then on Thursday, Regina police announced Amiir Abdullahi Hussen was arrested in the afternoon by Edmonton police. He is charged with second-degree murder in Whitebear’s death and was set to be taken to Regina in the coming days to face the charge.
