A Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) vehicle chase in the city on Jan. 30 ended after the driver hit a tree and was then found by a police dog, which bit him.

SPS said in a news release on Friday that officers received a report of a vehicle stolen from the 100 block of Sherry Crescent in the Parkridge neighbourhood around 12 a.m., which was then spotted a short time later by an officer in an unmarked police vehicle, who saw it in the area of Kinloch Crescent.
Before the officer could even “activate emergency equipment,” police said that the driver accelerated towards the police vehicle at a high speed in an unsuccessful attempt to ram it.
SPS said the driver then erratically evaded police as the Air Support Unit took over communicating the vehicle’s movements to officers on the ground.
The driver then unsuccessfully attempted to hit an officer who was laying a tire deflation device before crashing into a tree in the 300 block of Pendygrasse Road in the Fairhaven neighbourhood.
Police said the driver ran then away and a police service dog was used to find him as he was attempting to hide nearby, adding that he man received “injuries consistent with a dog bite” as a result.
No further information was provided about the man’s injuries.
