An escaped inmate who made a bid for freedom on Christmas was arrested just before New Year’s Day.
According to the RCMP, 36-year-old Martin Oochoo, an inmate at the Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre in Yorkton, was not located at the facility on Christmas Day.

On Thursday, the Mounties announced that Oochoo was found and arrested by officers with the Saskatoon RCMP near Dundurn on December 31.
He made a court appearance that same day in Saskatoon.
But while one escaped inmate has been arrested, police in the province are on the hunt for a prisoner who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary’s minimum security unit on New Year’s Eve.
Police say Glen Frederick Richard Halkett, 31, was found to be missing during the 9:30 p.m. count on December 31 at the federal prison in Prince Albert.
Halkett was described as five-foot-eight in height, weighing 168 pounds. He has a fair complexion, brown eyes, black hair, and tattoos on his neck and beneath his left eye.
Correctional Service Canada said it is investigating the circumstances of Halkett’s escape.
