Police say the same man may be behind a pair of unsuccessful armed robberies at ATMs in Saskatoon.
Both of the attempted robberies were stymied when the victims refused the would-be robber’s demands for cash.
The first incident happened just before 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day on Slimmon Road in the Lakewood area. According to police, the victim reported that a masked man with a knife demanded money while he was inside an ATM vestibule.

“When the victim refused, the male suspect fled the scene,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
Shortly after the first incident, a woman was approached by a man who demanded cash while she was at an ATM on Lenore Drive in Lawson Heights. She also refused his demand, and the man took off on foot.
“The suspect description is similar in both incidents,” the police service said.
“He is described as between 30 and 40 years of age, about 140 lbs, wearing all black – including a black balaclava or mask.”
Police asked anyone with information on the attempted robberies to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
