Saskatoon’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is giving back to the community this weekend.
According to spokesperson Rashid Ahmed, members will be at Saskatoon’s Prairie Harm Reduction (PHR) on 20th Street West on Saturday night as part of a nationwide initiative called “Holiday Dinner on Wheels.”
“During the holiday season we feel it is our responsibility to give back to those who are less fortunate and help them feel welcome and loved during the holiday season,” he said.
The group will hand out pizzas and winter gear at PHR between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“The weather is pretty harsh right now, so we have asked of our youth members to (make) the donations. That’s the spirit of our community,” he added.
The group has also donated $1,500 to the Saskatoon Food Bank, and 20 units of blood to Canadian Blood Services.
The youth association has participated in the holiday initiative nationwide for several years.
He said it’s crucial when many people are getting together with family and friends at this time of year to remember those who can’t do so.
“We are super excited to meet our friends and brothers and sisters, and to have a holiday dinner with them, our youth are ready,” he added.
