A 40-year-old Saskatoon man allegedly tried to push an officer over a railing down to the main floor during an arrest.
Police say this happened on Dec. 17, just before midnight, on the 400 block of Rogers Court for a report of a domestic disturbance.
The first officer to arrive saw an agitated man on the second-floor landing. Police say the man refused to comply with the officer’s verbal commands and after an attempt to arrest him, a physical struggle ensued for several minutes.
According to police, the man took the officer’s radio, body camera and carbine magazine off their ballistic vest and allegedly tried to push the officer over the railing.
Following the arrival of three more officers, the man was taken into police custody.
It’s believed he was under the influence of an unknown substance at the time.
The man has been charged with committing an assault and endangering the life of an officer.
